does anyone know of a shareware/freeware way of doing this? I have a bunch of movies in avi format, and I have converted them, but the audio doesn't come over correctly. I read something about having to convert the AC3 audio separately and attach or merge in mp3 format. That seems like way too much work....I can just rent the movie instead.

Window menu > Show movie properties
Click Sound Track
Click Extract.
A new QT window will appear without video, labeled Untitled. This is pure audio only. Process as needed (ie export as AIFF, etc)
Open modified video.
Go through above steps except click Delete on the last one.
Open modified audio track.
Select all, Copy
Switch to video
Select all.
Edit Menu > Add to Selection and Scale
Play movie
Save. -
