today my Macbook battery isn't charging.. it's just sitting at 4% for hours.. what could be wrong?
i've also noticed the battery really only lasts like an hour and a half on its own.. and it is only like 3 months old too..

Are you using the correct power adapter for your laptop?

MacBook Air uses a 45 watt adapter
MacBook & 13" MacBook Pro use a 60 watt adapter
MacBook Pro 15 & 17 both use 85 watt adapter.

The wattage is printed on the side of the adapter. Using a lower watt adapter will fail to charge the battery.

Assuming that you are using the correct adapter, time to visit the genius bar. Sounds like the battery is bad (and a bad battery is actually dangerous).

My 1st Gen MBP did the same thing. Apple replaced the battery the next day.

ya this battery is actually a replacement one they sent out when the first one this laptop came with started foulin up
i really don't think i'm doing anthing wrong - i basically have it hooked up on charge whenever i use it
HOWEVER i rarely shut down my laptop.. i just close the lid and let it sleep or whatever it does.. and usually just on battery~ is that really bad??

I discovered recently that my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard has a "diagnostic" line on the drop down menu from the power icon. It told me to replace the battery (and I think it was giving me good advice). Check it!

I sleep mine a majority of the time, too. In fact, I rarely shut down or restart.

You may have just gotten unlucky and received another defective battery. Or it could be a symptom of another issue. Either way, AppleCare should be able to work with you on the problem.
