About a year ago, I used a program to rip music off someone else's I-Pod and onto my computer. I'm at a loss to remember the name of said program. Anyone know of one I can use for such a project?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Mon, August 4, 2008 - 3:27 PMwell, you could use wire-tap to record the music played into your computer. Kinda tedious though.

Wed, August 6, 2008 - 3:57 AMFYI folks, this program worked like a charm! Easy to use and the songs just get dumped right into I-Tunes.
Thanks Sax! -

if you google it.... you will find some free ones and some pay ones....
some work by making the files appear on the desktop,
others give you an interface to copy across Volumes...
I can't remember the ones I used a few years ago, but some of the free ones work great.
macupdate.com
and versiontracker.com
let you search...

Re: Pulling Music off an I-Pod
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 4:54 AMWhen you connect the IPod you should get a screen with options. Check Enable Disk use. The IPod will mount as a volume which can be used as a regular disk. OTOH, since it is an 'alien' IPod wrt to your Mac maybe this won't work. -

Tue, August 5, 2008 - 5:10 AMWell, Nix that!!!! ;-(((
I looked around and found my connector and when I mount
as disk I DO NOT see any music folders ;-(((
Counter intuitive if you ask me.

Re: Pulling Music off an I-Pod
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 6:01 PMI've tested a ton of these and Music Liberator was the best I've found.
It's cool in that you can do the rip any number of ways - by playlist, by track, by artist, etc. and when you're finished it creates and XML file that you can open with iTunes to re-import all the music you ripped off your iPod.
Well worth the $25.
Senuti sucks in comparison, as do most of the others, IMO.

Re: Pulling Music off an I-Pod
Fri, August 8, 2008 - 9:22 AMiPodDisk is the app I use. It provides a hack for SMB that mounts the iPod on your Desktop and provides all the music in the categories you are used to seeing them in on your iPod! Very clever and quite handy.
