Hi All...
New to this tribe, but my husband has been a member for a while and is constantly telling me what a great resource it is.
So I have an iPhone, which I have been very happy with until today. I dropped it - accidentally, of course, and it was wearing a hard case - and suddenly it started to go nuts. First, the wireless went from great to non-existent. Then the screen started to lock up. Lastly, my battery was dying and I went to charge it and it would not respond. I tried to synch it as a last-ditch effort to save pictures of my son and an abundance of phone numbers I hadn't synched (I know, I know, but every time my husband synchs his phone he has problems, so I just stopped doing it a few months ago), and got a message on my laptop saying the USB device was sucking up too much power and the hub would be disconnected. Aaaargh!
Suggestions? Can my precious pics be salvaged...or am I just SOL?

Re: Data Recovery Help!
Fri, August 22, 2008 - 6:41 AMSounds like the battery is being shorted out, so maybe you knocked something loose inside or some metal is making contact with something it shouldn't. Is it visibly dented on the outside?
Your best bet is the folks at the Apple Store, or some other authorized iPhone repair center.
Until you get that fixed, it'll be tough to recover the data, as you found out with the USB connection dropping out. I don't know how to get it to not to try to take power from the USB channel, and still transfer data.

Re: Data Recovery Help!
Fri, August 22, 2008 - 4:03 PM1. Try hard booting the phone (hold the power button and home button until grey apple reappears)
2. Email the photos to yourself (lower res, but something) -

Re: Data Recovery Help!
Sun, August 24, 2008 - 9:42 AMThanks for the suggestion, but I can't even get the thing to turn on, let alone get it to the home screen! I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and take it to the Apple store.
