Setting up Email on Safari

I have mac osx 10.3.9, and use Safari 1.3.4 (v312.6) for the internet...

Sometimes when I'm on a site I want to send an email and it goes to a Safari email, which I have no idea how to set up. I use AOL for my mail, and have Yahoo dsl. Here's what it asks me.

Full name:
Email Address:
Incoming Mail Server:
Account Type: POP, IMAP, or EXCHANGE
User Name:
Password
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)

How do I fill this in?

Thank you for any help... ;-)

If you contact Yahoo they will help you set up all of this information. It should only take a few minutes. The setup is probably for Apple's Mail application.

Just to be clear, my email is on Aol, but sometimes when i'm on sites and I want to send an email and click to contact someone, Safari generates it's own email sender...and since it's not set up...I can't send it this way.

It is NOT Safari eMail that you are going to.

It is the eMail client called "Mail"

The problem is with the HTML command "mailto:"
It goes to your default eMail client.

What you need to do is cut and paste the eMaill address into your
    "AOL for my mail"

are you actually using the AOL client or AOL web mail client?

      Hi Patrick,

ok...yes, it is called Mail, and it has an eagle logo on it...

Let's see, I recently signed up for dsl yahoo, but Aol let me keep my account for free (but no customer support) when I switched over. So I have to sign onto Aol to check my mail.

And as long as I'm using my computer, I don't have to go to the web to see my mail if that's what you're asking.

So what do I need to do exactly??

and thank you for any help on this.

    Ahh, google:

    members.aol.com/adamkb/aol...lemail.html

I set this up for a client a couple of days ago.

Web email links hurl to your default email application, there's no way for them to hurl to another webpage (well i saw one script that did it, but it's not really elegant as far as solutions go). The best solution is to setup Mail.app with your AOL account information. The above walk through shows you how to do it.

I'd recommend you give it a try. You can use it for just web email links, or you can stop using the AOL web email client and use Mail.app for all your AOL email. Up to you.

ok...i tried that link...and followed the instructions to a t...and then when I went to send an email, it wouldn't let me because of a password error. So, is this an aol thing or yahoo or safari or mac....i'm so confused???

i use my aol for mail several times a day, so don't really want to change that...can you explain to me what needs to be linked to what.
