a few times the last couple weeks my internet window just closes which is a pain cos sometimes i can't remember all the tabs i had open.. and this is something i haven't haed to deal with with my MacBook before, just my PC somtimes.. and then a little box comes up saying ignore, report or relaunch.. but relaunching just opens up a fresh window.. what might be the cause of this?

Re: window just disappears
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 9:08 AMThat means the browser is crashing. Are you using Safari or Firefox? Have you ensured that you're running the latest version? -

Re: window just disappears
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 11:24 AMIn safari you can go History > Reopen all windows from last session.
To update safari, click on Apple > Software Update
Once that's done, go to adobe.com/flashplayer and install the latest Flash player, because 9 times out 10, when Safari crashes, it's because of flash. -

Re: window just disappears
Sat, October 31, 2009 - 8:44 AMThere is a FREE download called "glims." You can get it here: www.macupdate.com/info.php/...7708/glims
IF Safari quits on its own or if you force quit it, when you restart it will ask if you want to reopen the tabs you had open at that time. Click "yes" and in a few seconds you'll be back to where you were. -

Re: window just disappears
Sun, November 1, 2009 - 4:53 PMBefore installing Glims, one should be aware that updates to Safari (that is new versions of the browser installed via Software Update) often require Glims be updated as well.
When Safari 4 first came out it would crash on launch it you had Glims installed.

Re: window just disappears
Fri, October 30, 2009 - 9:33 AMFirefox has an *awesome* feature: If you have a bunch of tabs open and it crashes, when you bring it back up, it will open up all your tabs to exactly where they were. And if you were typing something at the time (like I'm typing this post right now) and it crashes before you hit "submit" (or whatever), it will bring all the text you typed back up, so that you don't have to retype it. I LOVE it. It's saved my ass a bunch of times. I don't know if Safari has this feature or not, but if it doesn't, I recommend changing to Firefox right away. (Firefox also has the ReloadEvery add-on, which allows you to have tabs automatically reload/refresh at specified intervals of time, from every five seconds to every 15 minutes -- another feature I can't live without.)
