Does anyone have any experience with M-Audios FireWire 410?
I don't seem to be able to adjust the audio input on this thing and it's causing distortion.

There are the knobs on the front to control input levels. Maybe they only work for the audio inputs on the front? Not the audio input in the back?
Which audio input jacks are you using? Try the front one.

Fri, June 12, 2009 - 7:38 AMThanks peeps!
I moved to the front input jacks and was able to use the knobs to control the input. I don't do a whole lot with sound so I forget that those jacks are 1/4 and XLR jacks. Still, I find it weird that the back jacks don't allow this. I guess they really only want a line level which my stereo probably does not put out.
I'm digitizing some rare vinyl and will post the link here once I'm done.
Thanks for keeping me from throwing this thing out the window! -

not weird at all, as you said they're just unbalanced line inputs, therefore you need to control the level at the source. They expect to see a line level, so if you're running anything else, like a powered pre-amp or power amp, you will overload them. Sounds like you found a workable solution though.
For better fidelity though you may consider getting a phono preamp that converts to spdif digital, the converters and preamps on the firewire 410 are less than ideal (I had the 1814 for a while, same box basically)
