just opened the addressbook on my macbook, running on Tiger, and all my contacts are suddenly gone ! Just gone ! tried to look in Application Support in the Library folder, no luck ! I am in the process of organizing a festival and retrieval is crucial.
May have been a bit slack on synchronising with my gmail account.
Anybody know if I could extract the data off my iPod ?! Some downloadable software that allows me to access not only the music, but particularly the contacts ?!

Sat, May 3, 2008 - 4:51 PMDid you make sure that you didn't have any text entered in the seach field? If there is a space, hidden character, or text that has no matches in that field, addressbook will only display matching records...which would be none. Click in the search field (upper right hand corner of the addressbook window), select all from the edit menu, press the delete button...does that solve the problem?

Sat, May 3, 2008 - 5:27 PMI there's nothing in ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/, then you'll probably have to resort to getting them off your iPod.
They actually aren't too hard to get, as I recall, but you'll need to have Disk Support active and need a bit of Unix skills.
Some folks have also had success recovering contacts by starting fresh in iTunes (or creating a new account on the computer) and syncing the iPod, only allowing data to go from the iPod to the computer. See this very brief discussion:

I use Mozy's free 2 GB online backup for this very reason. I have been using it since last year and it's been great at backing up just the super important things, such as Address Book, Keychains, and several other smaller things.
